Finally a pair of 19's at a fair price--I'm sick of seeing Model 19's listed at $2500 and $3000 (like these on ebay VINTAGE ALTEC LANSING MODEL 19 VOT HUGE SPEAKERS - eBay (item 320664278482 end time Mar-07-11 08:06:01 PST)) The Audiogon pair look to be in nice overall condition (other than a ding on the back corner of one of them)--not perfect but the price is fair and of course may be negotiable.... I wonder if he's a member here--he mentions "I did replace the L-pads and performed the highly recommended "grounding mod" with white cotton vintage wire" (although from the photo I'm not sure he soldered the wires directly to the lugs). Seller has 100% positive feedback on AudiogoN which doesn't hurt either.....

If I wasn't already "set" on speakers I'd consider them--they're probably in a good location for several of our members--a six hour drive from here which I've done before to buy Altecs (they're less than three hours from New Jersey--four hours from NYC and five hours from North Carolina)....

He keeps calling them VOTT in the photos--understandably a pet peeve around here! :snickerpup:

That is the correct price, and is what I paid for mine. Except both of my woofs had rubs......

I have seen this "pet peeve" mentioned here and on other forums before and I dont understand. Is it just an issue with certain models or anything that was not an A7?

I purchased more than a few of them new and I distinctly remember the boxes being clearly marked "Voice of the Theater". I may have some pics of them somewhere.
If they had the same components and Altec labeled them VOTT, I have to ask who here or in the other forums knows more about them than Altec did or why they feel like they shouldn't have labeled them as such.

OUCH--$7500 and one of the woofers distorts! Cool to see the photo of his original receipt for the speakers from 1979---that should be enough for Sparkomatic to honor the warranty:snickerpup:

Even the (relatively) diminuative A7 being the "baby" of the bunch seemed to have gotten a free ride as far as the VOTT label was concerned compared to its' big brothers.

I don't know anyone to get really twisted over the VOTT name being used to market home speakers, it's just that when some of us hear the term, the big stuff (from theaters) is what comes to mind.

I have 7 sets of complete Altecs. Lets see, 1 set of A7's, one set of Model 19's, one set of Santana's -8B I love these simple, one set of 904-8A duplexes modified and wonderful, one set of 3184 subs awesome, one set of 411 Subs home made also awesome, and one set of 9849's.
And a set of 9846's that need restoring, plus a set of spare 416-8B's that need coned, one set of 414 woofs mint, 2 sets of 511 horns, 4 sets of small format drivers and 6 sets of M19 and 501-8A crossovers. I think I'm set......well not quite.

So what is that......

VOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT's!

Only the A7's are real VOTT's. Got the decals and everything!

Will it go round in circles? (artist guess)
